Sažetak
Within the project of “Communities that Care - development, implementation and evaluation of the model of prevention of behavioural disorders in community” (prof.dr.sc. Josipa Bašić, project manager) which is being conducted in collaboration of the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences and the Region of Istria, an assessment of children and youth behaviors and needs was taken. “CTC Youth Survey” (Arthur, Hawkins, Catalano and Pollard, 2002) presents unique assessment tool for detecting risk and protective factors for development of behavioural disorders of children and youth and predictors of behavioural disorders as violent behaviour, delinquency, alcohol drinking and drug abuse (Glaser et al., 2005). Application of the survey as a need assessment instrument provides epidemiological data and specific profiles of risk and protective factors of community in which the instrument was applied. Instrument was applied in 2009 on the sample of 873 students of 6th and 8th grades of primary school and students of 2nd and 4th grades of high schools in Istria County during the project “Communities that care”. It appears as a good tool for assessment of risk and protective factors in community and as a scientific-based starting point for planned and efficient prevention. Presentation will involve description of the instrument and conducted assessment, epidemiological data of children and youth violent behaviour in Istria County, profiles of risk and protective factors, comparison of student’s profiles of risks and protections according to elementary and high school and examples of practical preventive implications that are result of application of the instrument in Istria County.
