Sažetak
This paper explores and analyzes the main characteristics and features of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County tourism market in a changed environment caused by the economic crisis. The aim of the paper is to identify the main tourist segments based on expenditure and to determine which segments contribute to reducing the more negative effects of the period. The research problem is the decline of tourist demand for travel to the Dubrovnik-Neretva County as a result of the global economic crisis. The subject of research is to investigate and determine whether, and to what extent, the segmentation of tourism demand based on tourist expenditure can offer an easier solution for the crisis problems in the tourist market. Research facilities are the segmentation of tourism demand based on tourist expenditure and the ability to exit from the crisis period. The purpose and the objectives of this research are to determine the segmentation of tourist demand in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County based on tourist expenditure. It is important to find models that would reduce the effects of the crisis in tourism, to analyze the demographic structure of tourism demand and to define segments that provide quality benefits at the expense of quantity. In order to avoid the uncertainty facing the future development of tourism in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County, which is a result of the economic crisis, the paper offers proposals for its future development.
