Sažetak
Machining process applied for surfaces which are exposed to the high exploitation loadings have to ensure acceptable surface quality and functionality. Conventionally machined surface produced with processes where cutting tool is sliding over the surface (turning, drilling, milling, grinding, etc.) consists of geometrical irregularities (scallops). These irregularities correspond theoretically to cutting tool geometry. When the surfaces are exposed to loadings, extremely high local pressures appear on scallop peaks are intensive wear as well. Roller burnishing process allows plastic deformation of machining surface and allocation of material from peaks to valleys. Surface which is machined with roller burnishing process has higher hardness and is more resistant also to the corrosion. Dimension of the cylindrical surface is changed for hundreds of the millimeter, and has several times smaller roughness.
