Sažetak
Edicija is conceived as a digital library that investigates and develops new, more efficient means of text presentation in a digital environment. It is the outcome of scientific project Digital Library of Croatian Printed Heritage (by 1800): Structural Premises launched in January 2007 (supported by Ministry of science, education and sport, project code 122-2691220-3043). Basic aims of the project team are: pointing out the comparative advantages of organizing and presenting texts in new, digital media and developing the system that will enable intertextual research of printed heritage. Available project mostly transfer the contents from printed to electronic media, without using the comparative advantages of the latter. Seemingly, computer screen is used simply as a book page, that does present – a book page. Digitization of heritage is in such a way shrunk to digital photocopying. Another approach, text digitization (OCR), tears off the contents from original printed media and the reader cannot get the feeling of text’s original, let’s say historical presentation. Edicija develops different approach, searching for golden mean in text presentation and offering new, more powerful search possibilities.
