Sažetak
Plavac mali is the most important Croatian autochtonous grape cultivar, which is grown only in the coastal region of Dalmatia. In last few years, in attempt to extend total vineyard surfaces grown with this cultivar, and in aim to get grapes and wine of the highest quality, several hundreds of hectares of new vineyards was made on very steep, mountainous and rocky sites, using very expensive technology. Beside many risks and difficulties, as well as very high price of investment, first production results have justified the idea of extending these kind of vineyards. The interaction of the specific sites and vineyard microclimate gave some new dimensions in grape quality, as well as chemical composition and organoleptic charcteristics of wine, especially when comparing it with traditional technology of Plavac mali production.
