Sažetak
Free and glucosidic bound leaf volatiles of Degenia velebitica were isolated and fractionated simultaneously into water soluble, non-soluble and high volatile compounds by hydrodistillation-adsorption (HDA) method and analysed by gas chromatography – mass spectrometry. In general, among twenty four identified, the main compounds obtained by HDA method were sulphur and/or nitrogen containing compounds. They were 6-(methylthio)hexanenitrile (26.78%), dimethyl trisulphide (26.35%), 3, 4, 5-trimethylpyrazole (13.33%), 5-hexenenitrile (10.11%), dimethyl tetrasulphide (4.93%) and 4-pentenyl isothiocyanate (4.45%). In addition, O-glycosidically bound volatiles and free volatiles were isolated by solvent extraction. Sixteen volatile O-aglycones and twelve free volatile components were identified. The main O-aglycones were eugenol (24.15%), 4-vinyl-2-methoxyphenol (11.50%), benzyl alcohol (9.49%) and the main free volatile compounds were (Z, Z)-octa-9, 12-dienic acid (38.35%), hexadecanoic acid (22.64%) and phytol (5.80%). Water soluble volatile fraction obtained by HDA method, containing mostly glucosinolate degradation products and 3, 4, 5-trimethylpyrazole, was evaluated for antimicrobial activity using the diffusion method, minimal inhibitory concentrations as well as minimal microbicidal concentrations. Isolate expressed activity against tested Gram-positive, Gram-negative bacterial species and yeast with MIC values equal or lower of 16.7 µg/ml.
