Sažetak
At the beginning of the 21st century modern societies have turned to creative industries as a key factor of their development. Culture (cultural) management as an element of the “new economy” is most prominent in the specific sector of creative industries. Creative industries encompass a variety of activities and thus include a wide range of professions. What they have in common is that they bring together creativity and specialized knowledge, specific skills and information technologies. At present, being dominant on the information market and the digital content market is the most profitable area of human activity. In an indirect way, it also provides increasing opportunities to create the conditions for political and economic domination. This paper aims to discuss to what extent public policies of European countries are harmonized and whether there is a coherent framework for promoting the values of the information society. Furthermore, we will look into the cultural policy of the Republic of Croatia and determine how much creative industries have been included in the priorities of this key strategic document for the country’s cultural development.
