Sažetak
Croatia is a traditionally tourist-oriented country. Growth of tourist traffic in recent years confirms that Croatia is on the way that tourism becomes an active growth generator of the economy. To maximize the economic benefits from tourism, it is necessary to adopt and implement a tourism strategy aimed at sustainable development with orientation to those forms of tourism that will generate benefits to all participants. Proper positioning on a dynamic and competitive tourism market depends on monitoring contemporary trends for identifying trends in demand, new market opportunities, areas of potential investment and infrastructure needs. Recent years shows market demand growth in tourist’s preferences for specific types of tourism. This paper will elaborate: the Croatian tourist product, the possibility of Croatia with regard to the development of modern types of tourism, SWOT analysis of Croatian tourism.
