Sažetak
Previous studies in the laboratory have revealed the existence of sex differences in the response of rats to drugs affecting GABAergic transmission. In this study 3H-muscimol was used to label the high affinity GABA-A binding sites in the rat brain and to determine plasma GABA levels in male and female rats. No sex difference in the number of GABA-A binding sites was observed, while their affinity appeared to be higher in female than in male rats. Plasma GABA levels failed to show sex differences.
