Sažetak
English in Physiotherapy is a course textbook at the intermediate level intended for the students of the professional study of physiotherapy. It includes materials for one-term ESP course. The students are expected to have attained basic English to be able to continue their study in using the English language in their profession. The textbook comprises 9 Units, a Revision and an Appendix which gives an outline of grammar units. At the beginning of each unit there are pre-reading tasks or activities. Tha main part of most units is made up of a text from various physiotherapy subjects followed by comprehension exercises, vocabulary and grammar exercises. Reading texts offer new vocabulary and physiotherapy terminology. The texts are accompanied by figures which illustrate the subject and play a role in the activation and application of the students' professional knowledge in the study of English. The aim of some units (Exercises and massage, Instructing the patient) is to prepare the students for immediate contact and oral communication with patients in English. Vocabulary exercises are based on the principle to link the students' professional and linguistic knowledge. Grammar exercises cover the use of English tenses, conditioanl clauses and the passive voice.
