Sažetak
During a 15-year study (1980-1994) the onset of egg laying of the Starling Sturnus vulgaris in North-West Croatia has been studied. The average date for the beginning of egg laying was April 12. The size of the first and the second clutch was monitored during 17 years (1978-1994). The average size of the first clutch was 5.88 eggs, and of the second clutch 4.50 eggs. Number of eggs in the first clutch ranged from 2 to 10 and in the second clutch from 1 to 8 eggs. All observed Starlings nested in nest-boxes. The contribution of one-year-old birds in the formation of clutches was also observed.
