Sažetak
Radioligand competition studies were used to determine the levels of GABA and naturally occuring ligands of benzodiazepine binding sites in nondeproteinized plasma of healthy male and female volunteers and of male DSM-IIIR schizophrenic patients. Plasma GABA levels were significantly lower in healthy women than in healthy men. In addition, plasma GABA showed a tendency to decline in all groups of schizophrenic patients as compared to healthy men. No sex differences in plasma flunitrazepam binding inhibitor levels were observed.
