Sažetak
The dynamics of populations in biocenosis in the estuarine area of the Mirna River in Istria 1969 and 1970 are presented. It is established that marine plant organisms reside only in the direct vicinity of the sea, while animal organisms enter somewhat deeper and may be found even at a considerable depth in the upstream stretch of the river. Among plants, only facultatively halophile species enter further upstream. Service they are not typical marine organisms anyway, many of them live in mainland waters as revealed by some recent algological investigations in brooks of Zagrebačka Gora (Zagreb Mountain). Animal species, probably due to their more active way of life, have succeeded in entering more deeply into the river than plants which are benthic and stationary, while planktonic forms cannot penetrate upstream into the river because of the counter current of the watercourse.
