Sažetak
This work evaluates the susceptibility of a Brokaw bandgap voltage reference to high electromagnetic interference superimposed at power supply. The simulation model is validated with measurements and improved in order to predict correctly the susceptibility of the circuit to the interference power of 10 dBm. It corroborates the relevance of the parasitic capacitance of the P-body resistors at lower power levels and points out the importance of the contact resistance between the substrate and the ground, which should be incorporated into the model as well. At higher radio frequency (RF) power levels, above 10 dBm, the parasitic drain-bulk diode of the PMOS transistor has significant impact, especially at lower frequencies. Both effects are discussed and explained. Optimisation opportunities to improve the immunity of the bandgap circuit both at low and higher excitation levels are illustrated in this paper.
