Sažetak
Crime causes a general feeling of anxiety within the society , especially after some recent events such as brutal murders . Regardless of the fact that a decreasing trend of different categories of criminal acts as well as an increasing percentage of resolved cases are often presented by official statistics , the fear of victimization is getting bigger , supported by alarming media reports . The major aim of this research was a differentiation between the relative contribution of psychological and socio – economic variables when it comes to violent crime . Results of this research show a clear differentiation between violet crime offenders ( N=149) , non-violent crime offenders ( N=149) and non-delinquent population ( N=147). Violent crime offenders are much more aggressive than non-violent crime offenders and non- delinquent population . They are also more intovert and they have a lower socio-economic status. Better understanding of this topic acquired by this research could be very useful in assessing future violent behaviour of individuals often resulting in violent crime , and it would contribute prevention of violent crime , as crime is a big threat to every society .
