Sažetak
The problem of traffic in idle and lack of parking spaces in the center of Zagreb becomes every day bigger and bigger. Vehicles circulate around the center of the city in search of parking spaces which congest traffic flows, which leads to financial and time losses to local government and users. Historic building in centre of the town does not allow increase of traffic roads and therefore the best solution is imposed by public transport and automation of existing situation through a telematic system. For this purpose, one of the solutions can be Park and Ride system Park and Ride system is using a combination of individual and public transports (park your vehicle and use public transport). It is a strategy in which the goal is to reduce demand of transporting by car in the central city area. It is also applicable for ring area of central city areas that are well connected with public transportation. The system is also adaptable for persons with disabilities to whom the local public transport is of great importance. Integration of Park and Ride system in the transport network of the city of Zagreb would stimulate the citizens of Zagreb's suburb to use public transport, and would reduce the congestion of traffic flows in the city center. The paper analyzed the current traffic situation in Zagreb, where the advantages and possibilities of introducing Park and Ride system in the transport network of the city of Zagreb are shown.
