Sažetak
In a random sample of 116 subjects (46 men, 69 women) aged 19-50 years non-specific bronchial reactivity (NBR) to histamine, skin prick tests (SPT) and specific IgE (sIgE) to dust mites were investigated. There were 53 non-smokers and 62 smokers with no asthmatic patients according to ATS criteria (1987). NBR was measured according to Chai H et al (J Allergy Clin Immunol 1975) and expressed as LOG-SLOPE according to ABrarrson MJ et al (Thorax 1990). Standard skin prick tests (SPT) were performed with Epipharm-ALK (Denmark) allergens to Dermatophagoides pt. (DP), Dermatophagoides far. (DF), Lepidoglyphus dest. (LD) and Tyrophagus putr (TP). (100 BU/mL), pollens and animal dander and expressed as mean urtica diameter. In subjects with mean urtica diameter ł 3mm specific IgE was measured and expressed in kUA/L (UNI CAP 100, Pharmacia AB Diagnostics, Sweden). The closest relation between mena urtica diameter and LOG-SLOPE was found for DF(r=0.29, p<0.01), which was the same for sIgE (r=0.62, p<0.01, N=26) with the significant difference between smokers and non-smokers (r=0.77, r=0.18, p<0.05). There was no significant difference in LOG-SLOPE, mean urtica diameter and sIgE for all dust mites between smokers and non-smokers. Subjects sensitised to allergens other than mites had significantly greater LOG-SLOPE, and mean urtica diameter to DP and DF. Women compared to men, had significantly smaller mean urtica diameter to all dust mites, with no significant difference in LOG-SLOPE, sIgE, smoking habit and relationship between mean urtica diameter and LOG-SLOPE. Our results show that even in non-asthmatic subjects NBR is in significant correlation to the level of sensitisation to mites and concomitant inhalant allergens, with DF being the best predictor for NBR. Found relationship was enhanced in smokers.
