Sažetak
The potential to dynamically predict tropical and extratropical drought is reviewed from a number of seasonal integrations. The contrasting years, 1987 and 1988, when ENSO cycle changed sign are discussed. For ECMWF model, for initial dates from 1987 and 1988, a pair of forecast experiments was run one with climatological and one with observed SSTs. For observed SST, the model was able to simulate interannual variation correctly. The impact of initial data was found to be relatively small.
