Sažetak
In modern hip arthroplasty exact anatomical and biomechanical reconstruction of the joint is demanded (1). The majority of the implant systems shows only a limited variability. This restriction leads to different clinical problems resulting in a disturbance of the gait, impingement between the components, an increase of the wear and a higher rate of dislocation (2, 3, 4). Since the eighties of the last century modular hip systems with different option of the stem – neck area were developed for primary implantation or revision, which offers a more individual restoration in hip surgery. The advantages of these systems are the optimal reconstruction of the head center, the femoral anteversion and offset (5). It was reached by introducing an additional coupling between stem and neck, which is accompanied by mechanical problems and could lead to breakage of the implant under special circumstances (Abb. 1a, b).This study deals with the reason of mechanical failure in taper locked joint of modular hip arthroplasty influenced by design –parameters.
