Sažetak
Male and female dental disease frequencies from the Nova Rača site in Croatia are analysed. The results show clear gender differences in the frequencies of alveolar bone disease and caries. These differences are interpreted as the result of a culturally imposed defensive mechanism which selectively shielded adult males.
