Sažetak
PhD students who are attending doctoral program “Prevention Science: prevention of mental and behavioral disorders and health promotion”, Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Science, University of Zagreb, Croatia have constitute a PhD Students Coalition for Prevention Group. Doctoral program is an initiative unique in Europe, and the result of collaboration between Croatian, European and American Prevention scientists led by prof. dr.sc. Josipa Basic from Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Science, University of Zagreb, Croatia. The initiative for establishing a group that will be focused on prevention promotion and improving of existing capacities, developing effective prevention strategies through creation of prevention policy in Croatia has occurred during a prof. dr.sc. Clemens Hosman, Prevention Research Centre, Radboud University Nijmegen and Maastricht University course - “Program development and program planning” in prevention. Group members are organizing round tables for stakeholders of prevention field in Croatia with intention to raise their awareness on the need for action to reduce the large health, social and economic burden of mental and behavioral disorders in Croatia, to present them an analysis of the current state of prevention in Croatia and to motivate them for active development of a national prevention policy, that is effective and comprehensive. Intention is also to acquire their support for a range of specific actions to improve national and local capacity for prevention. Before and after round tables, stakeholders are also asked to answer questions in a paper form which are directed to their preparation and motivation to be involved in prevention capacity building, their opinion on needed actions to improve prevention in Croatia and defining other stakeholders that should be involved in the process of prevention building. Presentation will involve presenting a current state of prevention capacities in Croatia and actions that are needed to improve national and local capacity for prevention. Proposals of the PhD Students Coalition for Prevention Group will also be presented. Main goal of the presentation will be to present results of qualitative analysis of stakeholders answers on the questions that they were pleased to answer before and after round tables and to use those findings for building a more successful prevention policy in Croatia.
