Sažetak
This is the first volume to comprehensively explore the field of clinical magnetoencephalography (MEG) ad magnetic source imaging (MSI), the techniques measuring the magnetic field generated by neuronal activity in the brain. These approaches have expanded our understanding of normal brain function in areas such as language, vision, movement, memory, thought and emotion and are now being applied in the clinical evaluation of brain diseases. Describing the empirical knowledge gained during the last two decades, this book will serve as a basis for the training of clinicians and scientists entering this new and exciting field. The book covers the methods for recording MEG and performing MSI in a clinical setting and includes parctical examples of data collection and analysis. It explains clearly why MEG should be used in the evaluation and treatment of patients being considered for epilepsy surgery and for other neurosurgical procedures with the potential to result in sensory, motor or language deficits. It concludes with a section describing the potential for future clinical applications of these methods.
