Sažetak
The heterogeneity of the clinical characteristics, the course, and the prognosis of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) imposed the need of finding out the prognostic factors. In spite of well-known prognostic model named "International Prognostic Index" (IPI) we analysed several biochemical parameters to possibly identify some patients' subsets that cen help in prognosis of this disease. The parameters blood proteins and immunoglobulins are not factors for the prognosis in "international prognostic index". Aim: To investigate whether the parameters serum total proteins, as well as immunoglobulinsroutinely taken at diagnosis are useful to identify uniform subsets of patients (pts) according to prognosis. Materials and methods: Uni- and multivariate analyses were done in 217 newly diagnosed NHL pts. Median age was 55 years, range 14-87. Male to female ratiowas 1.1 (115/102). In univariate analysis the survival was associated with total serum proteins (p=0.01), serum albumins (p=0.0000), alpha1-globulins (p=0.0059), gamma-globulins (p=0.0192), and IgA (p=0.0285). However, in multivariate analysis these factors didn't retain significance. Summary of stepwise analysis disclosed that no one mentioned parameter, significant in univariate analysis is the independent prognostic factor. Conclusion: We can conclude that serum total proteins as well as serum albumins, alpha1-globulins, gamma-globulins, and immunoglobulin A have prognostic significance. However, the multivariate analysis did't reveal the independency of these factors.
