Sažetak
Rapid development of digital technology in the last decade of 20th century has accelerated business operations in developed economies to almost turbulent conditions that require companies to adapt quickly and respond to market trends in order to survive. Taking into account market volatility and market requirements regarding prices, quantity and quality, and necessarily also their technological capacities and limitations, companies in the milling industry are facing the problem of ensuring a continued optimisation of their production programme. Modern quantitative and qualitative methods of business decision-making using state-of-the-art digital technology can help in creating a continued optimisation of production programme. This implies devising a general decision-making model for optimum production programme in the milling industry. Since modern science offers a number of possible solutions to the optimisation problem, ranging from those tending towards simple quantitative solutions, to those that take into account expert views and correlate with satisfactory solutions, the choice of optimisation methodology and creation of an applicable optimisation model for production programme in the milling industry is a challenging task which requires a multidisciplinary approach, devising own algorithmic solutions and usage of most modern programming tools. This approach has resulted in a model of computer optimisation of production programme in the milling industry which is not only of theoretical importance but has a programme design making it applicable here and now.
