Sažetak
On 30 November 1998 when Josip Kusak captured a young female (17 kg) in the schrubby and rocky karst habitat in Dalmatia. It was just a day before we disappointedly planned to end the capturing season. Josip’s experience in studding wolves for 5 months of 1995 in Minnesota with Dave Mech’s team has been crucial for this acheivement. This “seed” wolf should help us learn basics on wolf pack sizes, territories, reproduction, dispersions, mortality, food habits... Of, course many more wolves and many years of field work are ahead of us. But everything has to start with number one.
