Sažetak
The article gives an overview of buffering solutions as a contention resolution scheme in optical packet switched networks. The output buffered node was modeled assuming synchronous cell based and asynchronous variable packet length based communications. The schemes for fiber delay line and channel selection have been analyzed from the performance and complexity aspects. A procedure for basic fiber delay length calculation was used to reduce the probability of packet rejections.
