Sažetak
The tracking of vessels can be useful for any type of vessel renting, especially if vessel value is high and there is a possibility of vessel theft. In this work we present a sea vessel tracking web service which utilizes previously developed prediction system modified for this purpose. The prediction system enhances the tracking service with the ability to detect whether the vessel is travelling along a predefined route and, if not, to alert the vessel owner about the change in vessel’s course. This functionality enables rapid detection of potential vessel theft or, in some cases, accident/problems. Vessel thefts are not uncommon in Croatia and the motivation for this work is in great part derived from the existing problems in Croatia’s boat charter companies.
