Sažetak
Psychotropic prescribing to children and adolescents is incresing in different diagnoses, indicating a need for monitoring and research in this area. Children, suffering from attention deficit / hyperactivity (ADHD) and conduct disorder (CD) need interdiciplinry treatment, which sometimes include medication. We aim to examine patterns of psychotropic drug utilization in children and adolescents within diagnosis – ADHD and CD. During one year, 33 patients were ambulatory examed in the Department for adolescents and family, and confirme diagnosis of ADHD or CD. Demografics, diagnoses and medication details were collected. In sample (n=33), 30 were male ; mean age 10, 5 years (range 6-14). The majority of patients (26) got symptoms before 7th year (79%). Diagnosis of ADHD was confirmed in 8 patients (24%), CD in 25 (76%). Without medication 19 patients (58%) were treated. Psychotropic medication was prescibed in 14 patients (42%). Alprazolam was prescibed for 10 (30%) and risperidon for 7 (21%) patients. More than one drug was prescibed for only 5 patients (15%). We use psychotropic medication in carefull and limited mode in this population of children and adolescents, according to seriousnes of diagnosis, following the importance of developmental processes in children and youth as well as requirements of psychotropic medication assesment.
