Sažetak
The Italian culture on the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea and in its immediate Hinterland (territories belonging to the ex Yugoslav republics of Slovenia and Croatia) re-emerged in contemporary Cultural and Area studies as the social construct of great richness and of notable scholarly appeal. The purpose of this paper is dual. Firstly, it intends to contribute to the critical-methodological framework much needed for the future scholarly assessment of this important cultural phenomenon in Korean-based Area Studies. Furthermore, it will offer a synthetic overview of social processes and events related to Eastern Adriatic Italians in the past conjunctures, from early modernism towards this particular conjuncture, with special regards to the processes of societal learning and collective memory formation and transfer – a cardinal point of identity formation, be it local-communal, ethnic or national.
