Sažetak
There are three topics discussed, and one question put in this contribution to the discussion of principles and strategies from different aspects within the session Classification and Indexing with Cataloguing: Cataloguing and subject tools for global access: international partnerships (WLIC 71st IFLA, Oslo, 2005). The topics are: (1) IFLA’s achievements in the field of name authorities, (2) Authority records in a networked environment: redefined UBC and working solutions, and (3) Interoperability with other sectors. The question is: Have we reached a turning point in conceptualizing authority control in a new environment and are we prepared to act in its realisation, or Are we waiting for the information and communication technology (IT) to sort out the problem for us?
