Sažetak
In this paper floating breakwaters as environmentally acceptable structures for the protection of marinas and small harbours from waves are presented. Actions by which wave height is reduced are described, and some types of floating breakwaters are presented. In addition, comments on strict functional requirements for the allowed agitation of marine basin by waves are made. Finally, hydraulic properties of floating breakwaters are given, and attention is drawn to the complexity of defining their performance determined by transmission coefficient. For the most commonly used type, theoretical and experimental researches are analysed, and also condition for its maximum performance are found out.
