Sažetak
In one of the secondary settling tanks built within the waste water treatment plant in Bjelovar, resulting from several omissions in design and construction, the increased quantity of sludge in final effluent appeared in comparison to the one that was expected according to the design. In this paper a number of operations aimed at finding causes of this phenomenon has been shown, as well as methods by which, based on the pilot researches, operation of the existing settling tanks could be improved. In addition to that, the effect of each modification carried out on the settling tanks has been analysed.
