Sažetak
Wheat and barley are main small grain field crops in Croatia. Majority of wheat growing areas (3/4 part) are situated in the eastern Croatia, while contrubution of this region in total barley harvested ares are close to 50 %. Yields of these crops in 2005 were between 10 and 15% lower in comparison with yields in the remaining two tested years. Both wheat and barley yields in Vukavarsko-srijemska and Osijecko-baranjska counties were higher (4.80 and 4.25 t ha-1, for wheat and barley, respectively) in comparison with yields of these crops in remaining three counties of the region (4.32 and 3.30 t ha-1, respectively). The lower yields could be in connection with the higher precipitation in autumn of 2004 (Oct.+Nov.: 192 mm or for 120 % higher than 30- y mean). Also, cold winter, (February: - 2.8°C or for 4.4°C colder compared to 30-years mean), probably had additional negative impact on wheat and barley status.
