Sažetak
The main target of this work is legal terminology and the role of metaphors in the legal discourse. Since law is one of the products of human mind, it should be amenable to an analysis based on cognitive theory and conceptual metaphors. A sample consists of 200 conceptual metaphors used in legal discourse. English sample is compared with Croatian equivalent expressions. The results of the analysis show that 50.5 % of metaphors display full equivalence, partial equivalence is a property of 42 % of metaphors, while zero equivalence is covered by 7.5% of the sample.
