Sažetak
Most users of image collections formulate their queries in terms of semantics. The question is which is the level of semantic interpretation the users use to describe certain types of images in order to develop and adjust efficient methods for representing and managing images of a given domain. This paper outlines approaches which in various ways characterise the multi-layering of image semantics. Three semantic categories of concepts are suggested, and these will be analysed in an experiment in which stationary outdoor images are manually annotated. The obtained results are normalized (singular, no numbers, no adjectives, no diminutives, no abstract words that express emotions) and a dictionary is formed, much richer than a dictionary composed solely of concepts recognized in the image. The given dictionary can be a starting point for defining knowledge database, which includes relevant domain knowledge, necessary for image interpretation on a higher semantic level.
