Evolutionary computing methods are quickly emerging as a tehcnology that may open avenues for significant in many areas, including industrial application. Here is presentd short overview of the existing computational intelligent methods from historical and technological perspective. Desired features of evolutionary methods for the industrial application are outlined and current state of the field is shortly stated. Involvement of industry is briefly analyzad based upon published activity within EvoNet
