Sažetak
Higher computer speed and intensive use of information technology in the design work have not significantly accelerated this painstaking process. The critical link is the human being. The use of "artificial intelligence" is indispensable for speeding up the design process of complex structures such as bridges. But humans have a rather justified fear of this unknown technology. The integrated expert system for determining optimum bridge alternatives is described.
