Sažetak
Coastal and rural areas are some of the most attractive zones for contemporary tourists. On the other hand, those areas are also of the extremely high sensitiveness considering the ecological, socio-cultural and economic impacts of tourism development. Tourism takes the best of those areas and in every case makes a spatial transformation. Therefore the special attention has to be made regarding the tourism planning concept and the model of tourism development. Tourism in all areas, but especially in coastal and rural areas should be developed in a way that it benefits local communities, strengthens local economy, employs local workforce and, wherever ecologically sustainable, uses local materials, local agricultural products and traditional skills. Mechanism, including policies and legislation, should be introduced to ensure the flow of benefits to local communities.
