Sažetak
The basic significance and role of textiles for making car seat covers is explained. Types of fabrics, their properties and performance are described. The properties of car seat coverings are emphasized in particular because durability, comfort and aesthetic appearance of the car interior depend on them. Their varieties and possible problems in use are described. The use of the appropriate seam is one of the most challenging tasks in making car seat covers. The impact of seam on the properties and appearance of car seat covers is described. Since the cover should not lose strength in the seam, it is necessary to find appropriate sewing thread, seam type and sewing machine with corresponding sewing needle. Mechanical properties of the composite materials in different directions are emphasized. Consequences of reducing elasticity, strength and discomfort of the car seat cover in the seam area are described. Certain solutions in improving seam properties are proposed. According to the previous investigations and use of certain composite materials for car seat covers and the recent achievements in the material development a certain vision of the future development is given. The information from different resources touching the theme of car seat covers is studied.
