Sažetak
Rijeka Medical School was the first in Croatia to introduce courses dealing with current issues of scientific and technological achievements and consequences they have for human life. In academic year 1991/1992, the course entitled »The Hippocratic Oath Today« was introduced for medical students. Next year, the course »Medical Ethics« was introduced, and in the year 1993/1994, the course entitled »Introduction to Bioethics«. Within the last two decades, Rijeka Medical School has developed a specific recognizable model of bioethical education in Croatia and Europe (the Rijeka Model). In this presentation, the specificities of the Rijeka Model of bioethical education will be analysed in its contents, methods and evaluation.
