Sažetak
The behaviour of plate stiffeners with L cross-sections, as deck and bottom longitudinals, bulkhead stiffeners, side frames, etc. subjected to normal plate pressure, is examined. The advanced theory of thin-walled beams with open cross-section on elastic foundation is applied. The stiffeners, as thin-walled beams of open cross-section, are subjected to bending with respect to the enforced centroid axis parallel to the plating and, in addition, to torsion on an elastic foundation with respect to the enforced shear centre in the plating. A uniform normal stress distribution in the cross-section plating is assumed. A linear normal stress distribution along the flange contour is obtained. The comparison of the analytical solutions and the results of the finite element analysis by using shell finite elements are provided.
