Sažetak
Combat Discrimination Act, together with Gender Equality Act and Same Sex Cohabitation Act, makes the fundamental normative framework for combating discrimination in all areas of public and private life. Although it entered into force on 1 January 2009, everyday practice and almost complete absence of case law, despite provisions of earlier regulations prohibiting discrimination especially in the field of labour, raise a question as to whether the Act accomplished its mission or it represents the first step in a long-lasting fight against discrimination in Croatia. This paper tries to identify to which extent Croatian anti-discrimination legislation has fulfilled requirements referring to harmonisation of the national legislation with the EU acquis communautaire, i.e. whether the normative framework guarantees sufficiently efficient protection against discrimination pro futuro.
