Sažetak
During the past decades Croatia's islands have drawn the attention of many scientists from various scientific disciplines, evident in today's accumulation of research experience. Research by various scientific institutions confirm the alarming situation present on the Croatian islands. Revitalisation is needed. Croatia's islands have unspoilt and ecologicallyclean nature and provide a rich potential for the development of various forms of tourism. Rural tourism, as many other forms, suffers from a neglect among tourism researchers. Main component of the paper is an analysis of the natural and cultural resources and formation of the concept of sustainable development and regeneration strategies on the islands.
