Sažetak
In this article the author analyses the status of International Non-governmental Organiozations (INGOs) in the United Nations, dealing mostly with their rights and duties emanating from the consultative status they have with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), its subsidiary organs, as well as with the other principal organs of the UN. Starting from article 71 of the UN Charter, the authors compares the provisions of the ECOSOC resolution 1996/31 with the previous resolutions regulating the same topic (1296(XLIV) and 288B(X)). Finally, taking into consideration the impressive development of the INGOs position in the UN system during the last few decades, particularly their participation in the work of the UN programs and international conferences, the article points out the changing nature of the UN system.
