Sažetak
The main goal of our dynamic 3D computer-assisted reconstruction is to use 3D-information obtained from standard computed tomography data (2D-black and white MSCT), to explore and evaluate the nasal cavity, ethmoidal sinuses, retrobulbar region, and the pathology itself by simulated dynamic computerized visualization of the human head. Modern medical 3D image processing software covers most of medical imaging methods like MRI, CT, PET and microscopy, scientific and other industrial imaging applications. 3D surface models or volume rendering from 2D cross-section images once created in real time with software can be used for measuring, operation planning, simulation, finite element analysis and rapid prototyping applications. Nowadays, 3D image processing software is successfully used in many medical cases, to perform 3D reconstruction of the temporal bone [Shao-Tao et al. 2009], for pelvic reconstruction [Yusu et al. 2008], the pelvic vasculature and lymph nodes delineation [Dinniwel et al. 2005], to assist in solution for closed diaphyseal fracture reduction [Koo et al. 2007] and many others. Furthermore, the 3D image processing software can help also for preparation of tailor made implants and their application in medicine. In our presentation we are introducing guidelines and suggestions for use of 3D image processing software in head and neck pathology diagnostic procedures, dominantly in rhinosinusology. Since implementation of computer-assisted reconstruction in head and neck pathology can significantly increase reliability of diagnosis and reliability of eventual intervention, we have initiated establishing of the supporting centre for computer-assisted reconstruction. The supporting centre will provide its services to all clinics with interest and it will be open for cooperation with similar existing centers around the globe.
