Sažetak
Up to date, globalisation trends have opened the way for organisational, economic and many other processes. Globalisation is a very complex process in which numerous bodies are created that either directly or indirectly guide the development of the entire economy, tourism included, across all spatial and economic levels. The positive side of the globalisation process is that it is implemented on an organisational concept that takes into consider the specific traits of one country relative to another. In late 2008, the economic crisis hit the globalisation process, taking its toll in all structures of the global economy, tourism included. The impact of the global economic crisis is evident in a drop in financial and production power in the world’s economy that reflects adversely on employment and living standards. A decline in financial power has an unfavourable effect on investment in the tourism trade, meaning that new facilities are not being built, nor are improvements to existing facilities being financed. A rise in unemployment around the world, together with a decline in the standard of living of people, has affected tourism traffic, which tends to decrease in volume and structure in such conditions. With regard to these considerations, this paper explores the impacts of the global economic crisis and seeks to propose ways to deflect its adverse influence on tourism.
