Sažetak
Purpose: The purpose of research was to compare the effectiveness of two different rehabilitation processes for patients with musculoskeletal impairments: community based rehabilitation (CBR) and institutional rehabilitation (IR) (based in Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in General Hospital "Sveti Duh"). Methods: The group of 24 patients randomly started programme either at CBR or IR and changed the setting after two weeks. Patients have been interviewed after the completion of four weeks programme. They were asked to compare the effectiveness of CBR and IR approach on five aspects of health and function: general health, self-confidence during physical activities, physical tension, pain intensity and tolerance to pain. Results: CBR approach was judged by majority of patients as better or equal to IR in all measured aspects of health and function. The different effectiveness between CBR and IR was expressed by 41.67% to 54.17% of patients in the study group. The most pronounced difference between two approaches was seen in general health improvement where CBR was more effective(42% : 12.5%). Conclusion: This investigation showed that CBR approach should be considered as a useful strategy in managing patients with musculosceletal impairments for it was proved as better or equal as IR. Although the study group was small, the results encourage further efforts for measuring outcomes of CBR and IR approach.
