Sažetak
Because education is one of the major factors of any actor responsible for social development, its adaptation to change brought about by today´s information age is of the utmost importance. For the educational process to adapt successfully to this change, it is necessary to implement a novel model of teaching, which today increasingly focuses on integrating education and practice and on building learning organisations. This will have the greatest impact on how new trends are embrace and new knowledge, applied in institutions of higher education and business alike. This paper aims to assess the role and importance of practical classes for students as part of their overall schooling, and to generate the preconditions required for improving the curricula of institutions of higher education. Given that the authors belong to an institution dedicated to the teaching of management in tourism and hospitality, the paper focuses on practical classes for students in the field of hospitality, in particular.
