Sažetak
Limerick is a poetic form which is typical for English-speaking countries. It is easily recognized by its form and meter. Limerick is capable of expressing any topic, being nearly always humourous, witty and nonsensical. The popularity of limerick reached its peak after 1860s, due to the second edition of Edward Lear's /A Book of Nonsense/. Although limerick has never been that successful again, it has remained popular to this day. Limerick has been considered relevant for children's literature since its appearance. Due to its strict structure and humourous tone, it also offers many possibilities for foreign language classroom use.
