Sažetak
It is in this year that we celebrate 800 years of the foundation of the order of Franciscans. In the year 1209 one young boy from Assisi in Italy, Giovanni Francesco di Bernardone, decided to give up way of his living and to follow the Jesus Christ throw the words of Gospel. He became Saint Francis of Assisi and his followers became the members of the new monastic order within Catholic Church – Franciscans (fratres minores). In this article the author discus the influence and charisma of the Franciscans in Croatia from their arrival in Croatia in the beginning of 13th century up to the nowadays. The historical role and the development of the Franciscan order in Croatia are given in this paper. Also, there are some words about cultural and social influence of Franciscans in Croatia throw the history. Author finishes his paper by describing the temporally situation and the role of Franciscans in Croatia. This article is dedicated to the celebration of the jubilee of the 800 years from the foundation of the Franciscan order.
